Yanco BP-1114 Black Pearl Melamine 14-1/4" Square Platter, Black — Case of 12 (1 dz)

Fourteen and a quarter inches square, with the wall taken up to an inch and a quarter — the largest square platter in Black Pearl and the one specified for buffet and banquet work. Over two hundred square inches of face will carry a carving portion, a full dessert presentation, or a grazing arrangement for six.

The deeper edge is what separates this from the 13-1/4": at this span a one-inch wall is not enough to hold a juicy load steady, so Yanco added a quarter inch. Melamine keeps the weight sane for something with this footprint, and matte black gives a banquet table a dark anchor under bright food and white linen. A dozen to a case. It stacks square with the other Black Pearl squares, though at this width it needs a full-size rack rather than a half.
