A 3-3/4" by 2-1/4" sauce dish holding 2.5 ounces, shaped to sit beside a plate rather than on it. The footprint is small enough that two or three can share the rim of a 12" round without crowding the food, which is how many sushi and dim sum services use it: soy in one, chili oil in another, ponzu in a third.

Melamine suits this job better than porcelain does. A dish this light gets picked up, wiped and put back forty times a service, and the matte black body hides the ring that vinegar and dark sauces leave on glazed china.
