Yanco BM-213 Birmingham Melamine 13-1/2" x 8-1/2" x 1-3/4" Deep Oval Platter, Gray Interior and Black Exterior — Case of 12 (1 dz)

Thirteen and a half inches by eight and a half. This is the oval that goes to the centre of the table, where the question is how much it holds rather than how it frames a single portion.

The large oval platter

Depth is 1-3/4 inch, more than the 11-1/2 inch oval, which matters when a platter carries a braise for four rather than for two. The gray well sits inside a black outer wall, so food is framed by a dark border with no printed rim doing the work. Melamine keeps a platter this size liftable with one hand under the centre; the same footprint in china is a two-handed carry.
