Yanco BM-209CL Birmingham Melamine 9-5/8" x 6" x 1" Deep Oval Plate, Clay and Black — Case of 24 (2 dz)

The clay oval is a 9-5/8 inch plate that carries more than its footprint suggests. Brown through the well, black at the outer edge, with a one inch wall that turns a flat shape into something that will hold a portion of rice or a baked starter without spilling it on the way out.

9-5/8 inch oval in clay

Ovals at this length are usually ordered for a specific course rather than as general-purpose plateware, which is why the case is 24 rather than four dozen. Melamine gives the shape rigidity that thin ceramic lacks, and the brushed clay surface will not craze where the curve tightens at each end. Width is six inches, narrow enough that two travel out of the kitchen in one hand.
