Clay is the warm tone in the Birmingham line, a soft terracotta brown that sits well under grilled vegetables, flatbread and anything carrying char. On this 7-1/2 inch round the colour runs across the well and stops against a black outer wall, so a stack waiting on the pass reads as a dark column rather than a pale one.

A small round for the opening course

At 7/8 of an inch the wall is low enough to plate a composed starter and high enough to stop oil running off at the edge. Melamine means no chipped rims to pull from service, and the surface shrugs off the cutlery scoring that would scar a glazed face.
