A nine-and-a-quarter-inch plate with a five-inch well sunk two inches below a broad flange. The shape is the old rim-soup form put to dessert work: the well holds ten ounces of something loose, a poached pear in syrup or a crumble or a scoop with sauce, while the flange gives a server somewhere to hold.

That wide border is doing real work. It keeps a thumb out of the food, it frames a small portion so the piece does not look bare, and it gives a pastry chef a surface to dust. The AG-611 is this same form at eleven and a half inches, for a shared sweet or a larger opening course. Beige color glaze over chinaware, dishwasher safe and microwave safe, one dozen to the case.
