Nine inches is the entree round that fits a compact tray line, a room-service cover, or a senior-living meal programme where a full 10" plate reads as too much food. The Ardis 9" dinner plate carries a protein, a starch and a vegetable with a clean border left around the rim.

It is an inch narrower than the 10" dinner plate in the same pattern, which on many two-tier carts is the difference between a tray that closes and one that does not. The speckled beige surface disguises the grey scuffing that flatware leaves on plain white melamine. A case holds 24 — two dozen, sized for replacing a single rack.
