Fourteen by ten inches, a deep coupe platter whose wall rises an inch and five eighths. Two inches longer than the twelve-inch deep coupe and four longer than the ten, it works as a centre-of-table piece rather than a plated course.

Depth changes what an oval can do. A flat fourteen-inch oval carries sliced meat; this one carries the meat and the pan juices, or a whole braised shank, or paella for three with the liquid still in it. The wall is tall enough to matter and low enough that tongs clear it. Twelve ship together.
