Thirteen by eight and a half inches takes the AC-14 platter past single-cover service and into genuine sharing. The rim holds at an inch and a quarter, the same as the shorter AC-13, so the extra length is all usable surface rather than a taller border.

Carved meat is the obvious use, laid in overlapping slices along the long axis with a garnish at one end. Caterers also run these for sandwich halves and for a composed cold plate. The proportion matters on a crowded table: an oval platter of this length drops into a gap a 13 inch round would never fit.
