The Univex SRM80+ is the largest planetary mixer Univex builds: an 80-quart bowl on a 3 hp capacitor-start motor, with oil-bath lubrication and a power bowl lift. Its footprint matches the 60-quart machine — 66" tall, 41" by 51" — but it carries 835 lbs. net and ships at 1,000 lbs. There is no single-phase 115 V build — this machine starts at 208–240 V.
Oil bath, and what it says about the duty
Of all the Univex planetary sheets, only this one lists oil-bath lubrication — the 30- and 40-quart machines do not, and the 60-quart one describes its transmission as an oil bath in prose. An oil bath is what you build when the gear train will be under load for hours rather than minutes: the oil carries heat away from the teeth and keeps a film on them under a load that would squeeze grease out.
Eighty quarts of bread dough is that load. It is also why the beater speeds are the lowest in the range at the bottom end — 90 rpm — and why the machine weighs more than twice what the 40-quart mixer does. Mass and lubrication are not features here; they are what makes the capacity usable.
Speeds, and the power take-off that nearly matches them
Univex marks the beater shaft at 90, 166, 263 and 395 rpm, with the usual hardened alloy gearing and torque-sensing variable-speed pulleys holding anything in between and allowing a change while running. The #12 power take-off is unusual on this model: it runs at 90, 163, 255 and 387 rpm — almost exactly the beater’s own set, where every smaller SRM gears its hub down substantially.
The practical effect is that attachments on this machine run faster than they do on the rest of the range, which suits slicing and shredding more than it suits grinding meat. Worth knowing before planning to do all the prep on the mixer.
Electrical supply: the constraint to settle first
Three builds, and no 115 V among them: 208–240 V single phase at 16.0–16.8 amps on a NEMA 6-20P, 208–240 V three phase at 8.0–8.5 amps on a NEMA L15-20, or 460 V three phase at 4 amps on a NEMA L16-20. Settle this before anything else: the factory wires each machine for a single supply, and no one can alter it once the mixer is standing on your floor.
Why Operators Choose It
- Eighty quarts. An 80 qts. (75.7 liters) stainless steel bowl — the largest Univex planetary.
- Oil-bath lubrication. Listed on this model’s sheet and on no other in the range.
- Power bowl lift. Univex lists a powered lift among the standard accessories for this machine.
- 90 rpm at the bottom. The slowest beater speed Univex publishes, for moving a very large dough mass.
- A fast power take-off. 90 to 387 rpm at the #12 hub — close to the beater’s own speeds, unlike the smaller mixers.
- Protected three ways. Guard-open and bowl-lowered interlocks and low voltage protection.
- Two-year on-site warranty. Univex’s published term for its planetary mixers.
Controls
Start and stop are momentary-contact buttons acting through a contactor; there is a 15-minute timer, and the bowl is raised under power. One caveat: Univex’s specification sheet lists a power bowl lift under standard accessories while its own specification line for the bowl lift describes an ergonomic hand crank. The sheet does not resolve the contradiction, so confirm the lift type with us before ordering if it matters to you.
Ideal For
Wholesale and production bakeries, large commissaries, central production kitchens, institutional catering at scale, and any operation running multiple 60-quart batches a day that would rather run one.

Dough capacity
Univex publishes no dough-capacity figure for this model on its specification sheet. A capacity chart does exist in the company’s brochure and in the operator manuals, with conditions attached — flour moisture, water temperature, absorption ratio and in some cases a speed restriction — but the tables do not extract cleanly enough for us to be certain which figure belongs to which model. We would rather tell you that than print a pounds-of-dough number that might be the next model’s. Tell us the dough and we will get the figure confirmed by Univex before you order.
Certification
Be precise about this one, because it is easy to overstate. Univex’s NSF wording attaches to the finish: the sheet describes a durable NSF-approved hybrid epoxy / polyester powder coat. It is not a statement that the machine is NSF listed, and Univex publishes no cETLus, UL or ETL mark for any SRM planetary mixer. The "CSA and UL approved" note in the operator manuals refers to the wire insulation in the harness, not to a listing of the mixer. We have quoted the finish claim and left the rest alone.

Warranty
Two years, on-site parts and labor. Univex states the term in each model’s operator manual — the mixer "carries a two-Year, on-site, parts and labor warranty against any defects in materials or workmanship" — and in its Planetary Mixer Selection Guide, which applies it to every planetary mixer the company builds. Warranty work is scheduled 8:00 am to 5:00 pm local time, Monday to Friday, and claims go to the Univex Warranty Service Department before any repair. Overloading the mixer beyond the published capacity voids it.
