The Univex SRM40+ in Produce Green is a 40-quart floor-model planetary mixer on a 1 hp capacitor-start motor, finished in one of the five powder-coat colours Univex offers for the SRM range. Mechanically it is the standard SRM40+: four marked beater speeds from 99 to 402 rpm with anything in between, a #12 power take-off, and a bowl, three agitators and a 15-minute timer included.
Four speeds, geared for dough
Univex marks this beater shaft at 99, 210, 352 and 402 rpm — the slowest set in the whole SRM range, and deliberately so. Forty quarts of bread dough is a large mass to move, and the useful speeds for moving it are low ones; the hardened alloy gearing and torque-sensing variable-speed pulleys then hold any speed between the marked four, adjustable while the mixer runs.
Compare the 30-quart machine, which runs 110 to 488 rpm on the same 1 hp motor. This mixer trades top speed for the ability to turn half again as much dough at the bottom of the range. The #12 power take-off follows the same logic at 56, 121, 204 and 231 rpm.
Equipped out of the crate
A 40 qt. stainless bowl, dough hook, batter beater, wire whip, ingredient chute, bowl scraper and a 15-minute timer are all standard. That is worth checking against any competing quote: on a mixer at this size the agitators and the timer are frequently sold separately, and three agitators plus a timer is a substantial part of the delivered price.
Bowl height is handled by an ergonomic hand crank that self-locks at the top and bottom of its travel. Univex specifies a crank on this model and on the 30-quart machine; the powered lift arrives on the 60- and 80-quart mixers. Univex’s web page for this model mentions a power lift, but its specification sheet and operator manual both specify the crank, and they agree with each other.
About this colour
The name is the clue to why this colour exists. Green is the shade most kitchens reserve for produce and for ready-to-eat work, in the same informal colour convention that governs cutting boards, and a mixer in Produce Green reads at a glance as the one that does not touch raw protein.
For an operation running a genuine allergen or cross-contamination protocol, that visual separation is worth more than it sounds — it survives staff turnover and language barriers in a way a laminated notice taped to the column does not. Univex publishes no claim about this; it is simply how the colour tends to be used.
Why Operators Choose It
- Finished in Produce Green. Univex colour reference ELG-606-P9, one of five powder-coat finishes it offers.
- Forty quarts on 1 hp. A 40 qts. (37.8 liters) stainless steel bowl, supplied with the machine.
- The lowest speeds Univex offers. 99 rpm at the bottom of four marked speeds, with anything in between available on the move.
- Timer and three agitators included. Dough hook, batter beater, wire whip and a 15-minute timer, all standard.
- Four electrical builds. 115 V single phase at 14.4 A as standard, with 208–240 V single or three phase and 460 V three phase available.
- Protected three ways. Guard-open and bowl-lowered interlocks, plus low voltage protection after a power cut.
- Two-year on-site warranty. Univex’s published planetary-mixer term.
Controls
Momentary-contact start and stop through a contactor, a 15-minute timer as standard, and an ergonomic hand crank for the bowl that self-locks at the top and bottom of its travel.
Ideal For
Bakeries and pizzerias mixing dough every day, hotel and banquet kitchens, commissaries, institutional kitchens, and operations whose batch size has outgrown a 30-quart bowl.

Dough capacity
Univex publishes no dough-capacity figure for this model on its specification sheet. A capacity chart does exist in the company’s brochure and in the operator manuals, with conditions attached — flour moisture, water temperature, absorption ratio and in some cases a speed restriction — but the tables do not extract cleanly enough for us to be certain which figure belongs to which model. We would rather tell you that than print a pounds-of-dough number that might be the next model’s. Tell us the dough and we will get the figure confirmed by Univex before you order.
Certification
Be precise about this one, because it is easy to overstate. Univex’s NSF wording attaches to the finish: the sheet describes a durable NSF-approved hybrid epoxy / polyester powder coat. It is not a statement that the machine is NSF listed, and Univex publishes no cETLus, UL or ETL mark for any SRM planetary mixer. The "CSA and UL approved" note in the operator manuals refers to the wire insulation in the harness, not to a listing of the mixer. We have quoted the finish claim and left the rest alone.
A height figure we are publishing with a caveat
Univex prints this mixer’s height as 58" with a metric value of 142.2 cm beside it. Those do not agree: 142.2 cm is 56", which is the height printed on the 30-quart sheet, and the bracket around the metric figure on the 40-quart sheet is never even closed. We publish the inch figure and leave the centimetre value off rather than repeat an error. If the difference between 56" and 58" decides whether this machine clears something, ask us and we will have Univex confirm it.
What Univex does and does not publish about colour
Univex names five powder-coat colours for its planetary mixers, with a reference code for each: National Red (HFR-601-S9), Appliance White (ELW-505-S9), Davey Blue (EFK-603-S7), Black Beauty (ELB-400-P9) and Produce Green (ELG-606-P9). It describes them as a durable powder coat / epoxy finish in a choice of NSF-approved colours, which puts a coloured machine inside the same approved finish system as a standard one.
Three things it does not publish, which we would rather say than imply. It does not state which part of the mixer carries the colour — and it cannot be inferred, because the safety guard is specified as stainless steel on every model, so the guard is demonstrably not the coloured component. It does not publish a model code for a coloured machine: our SKU for this one is our own, not Univex’s, and Univex’s model number remains SRM40+. And it publishes no upcharge, lead time or warranty difference for a colour. If you are matching an existing machine or a brand palette, ask us and we will have the factory confirm the coloured surfaces before you order.

Warranty
Two years, on-site parts and labor. Univex states the term in each model’s operator manual — the mixer "carries a two-Year, on-site, parts and labor warranty against any defects in materials or workmanship" — and in its Planetary Mixer Selection Guide, which applies it to every planetary mixer the company builds. Warranty work is scheduled 8:00 am to 5:00 pm local time, Monday to Friday, and claims go to the Univex Warranty Service Department before any repair. Overloading the mixer beyond the published capacity voids it.
