Sometimes all you need is two strong burners in a narrow slot. The Toastmaster TMHP2 is a 12-inch countertop hot plate that drops in beside a griddle or fryer to handle sauces, soups, a stock pot or a sauté pan. It suits small restaurants, cafes, catering kitchens and any line that needs extra burners without a full range.

Two cast iron burners, set front to back, put out 22,000 BTU/hr each for a total of 44,000 BTU/hr. Each burner has its own standing pilot and a manual 1/4-turn control valve, so you get simple, dependable heat with no electrical connection needed.

What you will notice in day-to-day use

• Big heat in a slim footprint. Two 22,000 BTU cast iron burners give you real stock-pot power in just over 12 inches of counter.
• Simple to run. A quarter turn of the valve takes a burner from off to full flame, and the standing pilots mean the burners light every time.
• Grates that take a beating. Heavy-duty cast iron grates hold heavy pots steady and stand up to constant use.
• Comfortable to work at. The cool-to-the-touch stainless steel bull nose protects the knobs and gives you a safer edge to lean on.
• Easy cleanup. A removable crumb tray catches spills and boil-overs so you can pull it and wipe it down at close.

Choosing your setup

Gas type: every unit ships ready for natural gas with a pressure regulator, and an LP conversion kit is included in the box. Choose natural gas or liquid propane above. The same hot plate also comes as the 24" 4-burner (TMHP4) and 36" 6-burner (TMHP6).

Before it arrives

• Gas: 3/4" gas connection with pressure regulator; have a qualified installer connect it and fit the included LP kit if you run propane.
• Ventilation: install under a commercial hood following your local code.
• Counter or stand: set it on a non-combustible counter using the 4" legs, or on a stand at least 27" tall over a combustible floor. Keep 6" from combustible surfaces at the back and sides.
