Small kitchens rarely have room for another upright freezer, but there is almost always a gap under the counter. The Serv-Ware UCF-26-HC fills it with a compact, stainless steel freezer that keeps fries, proteins and desserts frozen right at the station that uses them, a good fit for cafes, food trucks with the space, bars and tight line setups.

Inside is 6.5 cu. ft. of storage held between -10°F and 10°F by a bottom-mounted 1/2 HP compressor on R290 refrigerant (3.17 oz charge, 3,500 BTU/h). It runs on 115V at 2 amps and plugs into a standard NEMA 5-15P outlet. Overall size is 27-1/2" wide, 30" deep and 31-1/2" high.

What you will notice in day-to-day use

• Short enough for low counters. At 31-1/2" high, this is the lowest freezer in this group, handy where a standard undercounter unit will not slide in.
• Easy-to-read temperature. An electronic thermostat with a digital LED display lets cooks check and set the temperature at a glance.
• Defrost that takes care of itself. Automatic defrost every 6 hours and automatic evaporation of the melt water mean no drip pans to empty.
• Doors that close behind you. Self-closing doors swing shut on their own, yet stay open once pushed past 90° while you load.
• Quick gasket swaps. Magnetic door gaskets pop out and in without tools, so a torn gasket is a minute’s job.

• Casters: the casters come in the box and are installed on site, so plan a few minutes and a helper to tip the unit safely.
