Grill marks sell steaks, burgers and skewers, and the Serv-Ware SCBS-48 gives you four feet of char space to put them on. This 48-inch radiant charbroiler suits steakhouses, burger joints, Latin and Mediterranean grills and any kitchen that wants a full-width broiler on the line without stepping up to a premium price.
Four stainless steel "U" burners rated at 35,000 BTU each (140,000 BTU in total) heat heavy 10-gauge stainless steel radiants, which spread the heat evenly under the cast iron grates. The grates can be set in three cooking positions and flipped over for a different style of grill mark.
What you will notice in day-to-day use
- Plenty of heat where you need it. At 35,000 BTU per burner, each section has the punch to sear thick cuts and keep up with a full grill during the rush.
- Three grate positions. Tilt or adjust the cast iron grates to run hotter and cooler areas, so you can char chicken and hold vegetables on the same broiler.
- Two looks from one grate. Reversible grates let you change the grill-mark pattern to suit the plate.
- A safer front edge. The front edge stays cool to the touch, and back and side splashes help keep grease and flare-ups off the wall.
- Easy to light and service. Adjustable pilots are reached from the front, and the whole unit is serviceable from the front, so it does not have to be pulled out for routine work.
Choosing your setup
Gas type: the SCBS-48 ships ready for natural gas and includes an LP conversion kit. If your kitchen runs on propane, have a qualified gas technician fit the kit before first use.
