Sixty inches of 1-inch steel is a lot of griddle, and the MagiKitch'n MKG-60-E is built to be worked hard from one end to the other. It is aimed at operations where the flat top never really cools down: high-volume breakfast lines, burger and cheesesteak shops, hotel banquet kitchens and campus dining.
Ten stainless steel venturi burners, one every 6 inches, put out 150,000 BTU/hr in total. Heat is managed in five 12-inch zones, each with its own electric thermostat adjustable from 200°F – 550°F, and the matchless ignition lights the pilots automatically when you switch the power on. The polished plate gives you a 59-3/4" x 24" cooking surface.
What you will notice in day-to-day use
- Five zones to plan around. Run a hot sear zone for burgers, a medium zone for eggs and a cooler holding zone at the same time, each controlled separately.
- No hunting for a lighter. Matchless ignition lights the pilot as soon as the power is on, with pilot-ready and heat-on indicator lights recessed in the front.
- Readings from the plate itself. Temperature probes are embedded in the plate, so the thermostats respond to the actual cooking surface for quicker, more accurate recovery.
- Grease goes where it should. A 3-1/2" spatula-wide front trough with a fully welded chute drains to a 3.75 gallon grease box with a splash-zone compartment.
- Safe and tidy against the wall. Safety pilots shut off on flame loss, and the regulator and shutoff are recessed so the griddle can sit close to the wall.
- Simple to clean. Double-walled stainless sides, a tapered back splash, no exposed fasteners and a removable cabinet back make closing faster.
Choosing your setup
Gas type: the griddle is built for natural gas or liquid propane; choose the gas your kitchen uses above. Supply and burner pressures for each gas:
| Gas | Supply pressure | Burner (manifold) pressure |
|---|---|---|
| Natural gas | 7" – 14" W.C. | 4" W.C. |
| Liquid propane | 12" – 14" W.C. | 10" W.C. |
Prefer a wider temperature range down to 150°F? The MKG-60-ST uses solid state thermostats. The MKG series also comes in 24", 36" and 48" widths.

Before it arrives
- Gas and power: 3/4" gas inlet; a qualified installer should connect it and confirm supply pressure. The matchless ignition and thermostats also need a 115V outlet (1.10 A).
- Ventilation: install under a commercial hood and do not block the flue at the rear, per your local code.
- Clearance: keep 6" at the rear and 2" at the sides from combustible surfaces (0" sides next to non-combustible). If you mount it on a stand with casters, use a flexible gas hose with a restraint.
- Delivery: the griddle ships on its own crate (about 750 lb, 75" x 45" x 40"); stands ship separately. Plan for a liftgate or dock.
