Not every kitchen has room for a four-foot flat top, but plenty still want a serious one. The MagiKitch'n MKE-24-E packs a full 1-inch thick polished steel plate into a 24-inch footprint, which makes it a smart pick for cafes, bars with a short grill menu, food halls and as a second griddle on a crowded line. Running on electricity, it also works where gas is not an option.
Two 12-inch zones each get 5.7 kW from Incoloy sheathed elements pressure clamped under the plate, for 11.4 kW total. Each zone has its own electric thermostat (200°F – 550°F) and on/off switch, and the cooking surface measures 23-3/4" x 24".
What you will notice in day-to-day use
- Big-griddle performance in a small space. The same 1" plate used on the larger MKE models holds heat well, so a full load of patties does not stall it.
- Two zones you can split. Run one side hot for searing and the other lower for eggs or holding, or switch half off when it is quiet.
- Controls that read the plate. Thermostat probes are embedded in the plate for faster response and more accurate surface temperatures.
- Plenty of grease capacity. A 3-1/2" spatula-wide front trough and welded chute drain to a 3.75 gallon grease box with a splash-zone compartment.
- Clean lines, quick wipe-down. Extra smooth 12 gauge back and side splash, no exposed fasteners and a removable cabinet back.
Choosing your setup
Voltage: choose the voltage and phase that match your electrical service above. Every version is rated 11.4 kW; the amp draw per line is in the table below. The griddle is field wired; an optional 6 ft, 60 amp cord with NEMA 15-60P plug is offered by the factory for three-phase service.
| Electrical service | Amps per line |
|---|---|
| 208V, single phase | 54.8 A |
| 208V, three phase | 31.6 A |
| 240V, single phase | 47.5 A |
| 240V, three phase | 27.4 A |
Want a lower starting temperature and tighter control? The MKE-24-ST uses solid state thermostats (150°F – 550°F). The MKE series also comes in 36", 48" and 60" widths.
