The UN-709 is Universe's dessert plate, 9-1/2 by 8-1/4 inches across and standing 3 inches tall over a shallow 10 ounce well. Three inches of height is a great deal for a dessert plate and it is what gives the piece its presence, lifting the sweet course clear of the tablecloth and closer to eye level than a flat round would.

Ten ounces of capacity across a face this wide means a very shallow dish, suited to a slice of tart with sauce pooled underneath, a poached pear, an affogato set-up or a plated cheese course. The Universe blue sits in the base of the well where a translucent sauce will show it off. Twelve to a case.
