Eight by five and a half gives a rectangular plate enough length for a row of sushi or a plated starter with a sauce streak, while still fitting two to a cover without crowding the setting.

It is the larger of Honda's two rectangular plates, carrying two more inches of length than the HO-2406, and it stops short of the rippled-edge pieces that begin at eleven inches. Four dozen to the case. Green, brown and beige floral decoration on a break-resistant melamine body that survives a commercial wash cycle. Stacked, a case of these takes up less shelf depth than the same count of round plates, which matters in a line kitchen short on storage.
