Katoris
Hammered Stainless Steel Conical Katori Serving Bowl 3" (7.6 cm) - 3 Oz. (90 ml)
#NE-1147
A katori is a small stainless steel serving bowl used in Indian restaurants and homes to serve dal, curries, chutneys, raita, desserts, and condiments alongside a thali platter. Most Indian restaurants use 5 to 6 katoris per thali set, making them one of the most frequently purchased pieces of Indian dinnerware. Our katori collection includes plain stainless steel, hammered stainless steel, conical, and copper-clad styles in sizes ranging from 2.25 inches to 4 inches in diameter.
Stainless Steel Katoris
Our plain stainless steel katoris with straight borders are the standard choice for everyday restaurant use. They come in multiple sizes: a 2.25-inch katori (3 oz) for pickles, chutneys, and small condiment portions, a 3-inch katori (5 oz) which is the most common size for standard thali sets, a 3-inch katori with straight border (5 oz) used in Madras-style thali setups, and a 4-inch katori (12 oz) for larger portions of dal, curries, or Bahubali thali presentations. All are made from 18/8 grade stainless steel for durability, corrosion resistance, and easy cleaning.
Hammered and Decorative Katoris
For restaurants that want a more upscale presentation, our hammered stainless steel katoris add a textured, handcrafted look to any thali setup. We carry hammered conical katoris (3 oz) ideal for pickle and chutney, hammered round katoris (6 oz) for curries and desserts, and copper and stainless steel katoris (4.5 oz) that pair well with copper thali platters and serving sets. The hammered finish hides minor scratches from daily use, keeping them looking polished for longer.
Choosing the Right Katori for Your Restaurant
The right katori size depends on your thali style and portion sizes. Gujarati and Maharashtrian thali setups typically use 3-inch katoris with a 5 oz capacity, while South Indian Madras thali sets may use slightly larger katoris. For chutney and pickle sides, a 2.25 to 3 inch katori is enough. For dal, sambar, or dessert, a 3.5 to 4 inch katori gives you room for a proper serving.
